Gratitude In The Journey

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I wanted to shift our thoughts towards the good things.

It is important to see the good things even when the bad things can seem to take up most of our brain space when injured.

Think about all of the things that you are capable of doing. All of the things that you are good at. Great at.

If you are able to get outside and be active, lift weights, run, or even simply do chores around the house, these are things that we should be grateful for.

We set our own expectations for things that we are able to do and things that we think we should be able to do.

When one of our self-expectations is taken away due to an injury, we often times feel bad for ourselves and become focused on the negative.

Staying focused on the positive things and progress that you're making can give you a huge mental boost and decrease the stress associated with injury.

Stress can have a significant impact on injury recovery, and psychological factors are estimated to account for up to 38% of whether someone with a physical injury will recover.

If you can affect your stress levels by simply having a more grateful mindset, you just may recover faster!

I'm grateful for my family, my boys, my ability to help others, and my ability to push my body towards my goals.

What are you grateful for?
